I'm Back with some Disney shortsets

Have I REALLY ignored my blog for 4 months?  Whoa!  I need to get on the ball!  Things have been pretty crazy around here with all the daily road running and chauffering the kiddos back and forth.  I really should get me an Iphone or notebook or Ipad so's I can keep up with the online duties while I'm sitting in a parking lot somewhere.

Another reason I haven't been on here much is because I've been on Facebook a whole lot more!  :D  I need to curb that addiciton as well.  And speaking of addicitons, I have been sooooooo busy sewing!  I'm just loving the feel of the thread and needle as it punctures the various fabrics I'm playing with.

In order to supplement the family income, I've decided to try my hand at custom sewing projects....focusing on Disney inspired short sets.  I have recently completed 3 outfits that I'm very proud of.  I think I'll go ahead and try to expand the collection with even more shortsets for boys AND girls.

Meanwhile, enjoy these pics of my latest creations!  Each shortset is ONLY $50.  Just comment if you're interested in one.  Then we'll exchange the needed info.

Disney: Pre-Trip TeeShirt Projects

Just wanted to post a few pictures of the Tee Shirts that I had been working on before our Disney Vacation. Since we were at Disney all last week and I had no WIFI signal (not for free anyway), I couldn't post anything. However, I do have a post trip report and pictures that will be coming to the blog world soon.

Whew! Whadda Day!

Yesterday was a long day for me. I was so tired that by 8:30 p.m. last night, while sitting in my recliner rocking my "babies" I fell asleep! My snores woke me up, along with my Kangaroo patting my cheeks saying, "Wake up Mommy!". So I managed to get them ready for bed, all dressed in pj's, said prayers, tucked in, and then I got into my own bed. I managed to read a page or two of the last little book that I'm trying to review, "Jesus Calling". Then I fell asleep. I didn't know another thing until 6 a.m. when hubby got up to drive The Teen to his driver's ed class. I went BACK to sleep and slept till my snores again woke me up. I sat up abruptly and looked at the clock. Noticing that the clock read 8:25 a.m. and remembering that I needed to have Little Bird at her first Music Camp 30 minutes away at 8:30 a.m., I jumped out of bed and hit the floor running.

Hubby had long returned from his errand and was sitting at the dining room table doing his weekly reports for work. I run into the kitchen, toss some cold cereal into the bowls, holler for the girls, throw some milk on top of the cereal, holler for the girls again, set the cereal on the table, holler for the girls, and run back into my bedroom to get dressed while they inhale their cereal. Upon my return to the kitchen, I grabbed the clothes I had previously set out for them to wear today.

During the drive to Little Bird's music camp, Kangaroo began crying that she wanted to go to Music Camp too. However, she's too young for this one at this time so I promised her a visit to the local library storytime while her big sister was participating in Music Camp. That idea seemed to soothe Kangaroo and she dried her tears.

Upon arrival at Music Camp, I was informed that due to Little Bird's age it was required that an adult stay with her for this first day....just until she got comfortable with being in a new setting with people she didn't know. Since I just happened to have DQ with me, I sweet talked her into staying with Little Bird so I could keep my promise to Kangaroo.

SOOOOO, to the library The Teen & I go. The summer theme is Kings & Queens. We participated in a lot of dancing around to get the wiggles out, sitting down to listen carefully as stories were read to us, and then decorating a little poster board crown to wear to each storytime for the summer.

Following storytime, we headed back towards Music Camp to pick up Little Bird and DQ. However, on the way, I rec'd a phone call from hubs.

"Hello?"

"Hey, are you gonna pick up The Teen from Driver's Ed?" (by this time class had been out for 15 minutes and I was still a good 20 minutes away!)

"Ummm, yeah, I'll get him. I don't have to be back at Music Camp just yet so I'll go get him and then get them."

After a little route adjustment, I arrived at the Driver's Ed class to find that The Teen had started the 8 mile walk to the house!!! Upon discovering that he wasn't where he was supposed to be, I thought he might make the attempt to walk home so I drove that route for about 1/2 a mile when I found him.

He got into the surburban, I yelled at him for not letting me know what he was going to do, then I told him that for the rest of the week just walk to the local burger joint and I'll meet him there. At least that's air conditioned! Having got him retrieved, I backtracked to pick up the other two passengers, DQ and Little Bird.

Once all buckled in, DQ and The Teen both announce that they are STARVING!! It's not obvious to most people that my children are mal-nourished but since they're STARVING that must be the case. I asked them what they would like to do for lunch and I rec'd the local listing of fast food joints....Mc'D's, Burger King, Sonic, Jack in the Box, Taco Bell, etc. Little Bird said she didn't want any of that and Kangaroo mentioned homemade ham sandwiches. Since I'm the driver and holder of the much coveted debit card, I chose to go to Piccadilly. My choice announcement was met with a chorus of groans and moans but they eventually relented.

Over lunch, we discussed new movies coming out and on a whim, I decided to surprise the gang with a visit to the movie theatre to see Disney's newly released, "UP". What a sweet story! I cried! *** sob ***

After the movie, we headed home where the girls exited the surburban and ran straight to the trampoline where they are currently getting some more wiggles out before we settle down for the evening.

Looking around the house, I still have much more to do but I think I might just let it wait until tomorrow. For today, I've just enjoyed being with my babies, all 4 of them.

Disney: On Ice

In anticipation of our upcoming Disney vacation, I decided to get my gang in the mood by attending the Disney On Ice show.

We were welcomed to the show by some classic Disney characters.

Following the welcome was a short Lion King production number that featured a pair of skaters representing Simba and Nala. The performance they gave was absolutely breathtaking. They treated us to several stunts, flips, and tricks that literally made me gasp out loud! The athleticism of the cast members left me awestruck.

When Simba and Nala left the skating rink (or stage), Sebastian appeared with some mermaids to introduce Ariel to the crowd. She was so beautiful and skated amazingly despite the little fish tail skirt that had her knees bound together. I couldn't walk around dressed like that much less skate as amazingly as she did!

As Ariel and her fishy friends finished their part of the show, a group of hula dancers (wearing iceskates) came out onto an elevated stage area. They did a little hula number and then Lilo and Stitch appeared to entertain for a bit. I didn't think this particular part was very impressive but
the girls enjoyed it.

Then we had a short intermission where everyone made lines to the concession stands. A 21 oz. bottle sports bottle of iced lemonade was .... TEN DOLLARS!!!! Did I buy one? No. I bought TWO of them!!!! I know, stupid stupid stupid! And these plastic sports bottle thingies aren't even dishwasher safe! THEN I purchased two snowcones in these cute Little Mermaid cups (which ARE dishwasher safe). The snowcones were only three dollars. Much better than the sports bottle but....well, live and learn. I shoulda just found a water fountain.

If the concession and souvenir prices at DOI are any indication of the same at Disney World, then it looks like we're gonna be in trouble!!! Somehow I'll need to get the message across to DQ and The Teen (okay, and me) that we will not be purchasing a bunch of junk while we are there on vacation. I'm thinking that we won't have too many complaints from the little ones. **shrug** Maybe?

Here's DQ sporting all her Disney On Ice regalia. Note the Flounder hat and Ariel snowcone cup. In her Left hand she's holding a bucket of cotton candy and the 21 oz sports bottle.

Little Bird and I enjoyed our snowcones!

Happy little spectators.

After intermission, the show resumed with a big Peter Pan production complete with the "We Can Fly" scene where the Darling children flew to Neverland with Peter. Captain Hook's pirate ship also made an appearance.

Tick Tock the Crocodile was also there AND he ate Captain Hook!!!

The show ended with a spectacular finale. They even had fireworks!!! Then we came home, had lunch, and took a long nap before I got up and cooked some dinner! We're very excited now about our upcoming Disney World Vacation!!!!
Thanks for looking!!!

Disney: The Short Sets

Well, here they are!! The short sets I had blogged about last week (?). I haven't blogged much since then (if at all) because I've been busy sewing and will have to catch up. I've decided to make some pillowcase short sets for our days at the other parks besides Magic Kingdom. We plan to have 3 days at the Magic Kingdom so I'm pretty sure the girls won't want to wear the outfits all the time. Then again, I have been known to be wrong.

Okay, well, before I go chasing a rabbit....here are the outfits. Oh, and I made matching hairbows too. Well, except for the Cinderella one....I bought the wrong shade of blue for that one. I really have been on a roll.

P.S. It is NOT wise to iron Organza!!! :D

Disney: One down, Four to go!

I spent a couple of hours putting together the first outfit last night. I put the finishing touches on it this morning before heading out for The Teen's History assignment. Here's Kangaroo granting me a Princess pose (check out those royal hands!!!) while wearing the outfit created for Sleeping Beauty.
I'm thinking of making a couple of changes. Maybe putting a Princess Aurora iron on transfer in a lower corner of the tank top. Or even adding a light pink "skirt" to the tank top since it looks kind of short. Then iron on the fairies on the little skirt part.
So what do you think?

Disney: Sewing Projects

Whoooo! I have embarked on quite the task! This week, I went and purchased all the fabric I needed for my Diseny sewing projects. Today, I spent this afternoon getting all the pieces cut out. Now, I'm forced to take a break until Tuesday away from my project due to other obligations. However, Tuesday will definitely be spent getting some of this large "jigsaw puzzle" put together. I anticipate finished projects by the end of next week. Photos of my girls modeling will definitely be posted!!! In the meantime, here's the cut outs!!
So what do you think?

Disney: Dressing my Princesses

We're going on our FIRST EVER Disney Vacation in 44 days!!!!!! We are soooo excited!!! I have really struggled with how to dress my family for our time in the parks. I finally decided to make my girls some princess short sets and have the rest of us in matching tee shirts with iron on transfers of our favorite Disney characters. Here's some photos of what I'm planning to do in the next 3 weeks. I'm taking a bit of this and a bit of that to come up with some cute short sets similar to what you see in these pictures. By the way, the following pics came from Tinkerella Creations on Etsy.com.

Aren't they just adorable outfits? So, I went to Hobby Lobby and bought some patterns, fabric, and ribbons. I figured I'd make some of these for my girls. Again.....I'm not making EXACTLY what you see in the pictures. If you want THAT, go to the link and purchase it from Tinkerella Creations.

Here are the patterns I'll be using and modifying.

Oh, I'm also making our own autograph books and Epcot passports. I'll upload some pics of those later on. There's just nothing like the creativity on Disboards.com!!!!

Do you like to sew? I'd love to see some of your creations!!!

Zip Ah Dee Doo Dah

Here's Little Bird singing while we were at the park. This was just before we went on our Disney vacation.
