Learning about Bees

If I haven't told you already, my dad is a beekeeper. He captures swarms and helps them move into their new home, usually an empty yet prepared hive. He made one of the hives as and observatory hive. It has glass sides so you can see what's going on inside of it. The girls and I went over for a visit to get a closer look at the bees. Here are some pics of the bees.

Here's my dad pointing the queen out to Little Bird. Don't you just love the tree face?

Here's the queen. Can you see her? She's wearing a white dot on her back.

After observing the honeybees, we followed some free range chickens around.

Then Little Bird enjoyed a frozen mango fruit bar.
Overall, we had a good time at Pappy's and learned a lot.

That looks like a neat day. It's nice to have those things at your fingertips for your kids to learn.

Bees can be scary. After all they're little bugs with stingers in their tails. However, they're fascinating. God's creations constantly amaze me. Not just the little buggers themselves, but the colony and how it operates. No human could ever come up with such cooperation!
